Product review: Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer

I purchased this product approximately 2 weeks ago at Wal- Mart, I had finished my Clinique moisturizer and was using some random Bath and Body Works cream. I was looking for a cream that had SPF in it because I find it extremely difficult to put on / even wear sunscreen. For starters I hate the consistency, the smell, the feeling when it's applied to my face and the list goes on!

I was talking to my mom and she suggested that I just stick with a simple and gentle cleanser, she thought  I may have been using too many harsh ingredients on my face. So when I payed Wal-mart a visit, I went straight to the cleanser isle and I stumbled upon the Cetaphil section. To be honest I have seen these products 100 times, but the packaging just turns me off..it is so plain and yucky (not particularly for the lotion but more so for the cleansers)! I was in need of a moisturizer more than I was another soap so I decided to pick up the cream and try it out.

This particular product claims to be Non- comedogenic, Non greasy, fragrance free, and Non irritating.. I put this to the test and found that out of all 4 claims 2 were bang on, and while the other 2 were okay..does that make sense haha?! Basically I felt that the cream did live up to it's expectation about being Non-irritating, and Non-comedogenic however I still felt it did apply a tad greasy upon application, and to me it did still have that slight sunscreen scent.

However saying that, the qualities were not a turn off for me .. the thing is that the lotion applies a little greasy at first, but it does tend to dry matte after. This moisturizer never broke me out so that was another good trait, because it is Non- Comedogenic it does not block pores which limits that amount of breakouts that can occur. The cream is good for all skin types so it says, and never once did it irritate or bother me.

The consistency is nicely formulated, it's just right in order to nourish your face however it is not overly thick or too wet. The price is $15.00 for a 50 mL bottle, and it comes with a $2 .00 coupon off your next Cetaphil purchase. Also one thing to note, the cream has a pump and I find it very easy to dispense the exact amount of product you need. Overall I am very happy with this moisturizer, I have been using it twice a day once in the morning and once before bed :)

What's your favorite moisturizer? Let me know!

  1. I agree with you- cetaphil packaging sucks! it's boring and ugly! I have been using Philosphy Hope in a Jar oil-free lately and its working well for me. I don't like the scent of it, but it doesn't break me out. I also really like the Aveeno moisturizers with SPF, and LUSH Vanishing Cream was a favourite of mine too.

  2. Haha yess someone who agrees with me about the Cetaphil! For some reason Aveeno doesn't work for me:( I tried their clear complexion lotion and then a soap but it kinda broke me out. I did a post recently about my wishlist items and Lush's vanishing cream was on there, I want it soo bad. Does it have SPF in it? How about the philosophy one?
